Asthma
Asthma is a long term respiratory condition, in which the airways may unexpectedly and suddenly narrow, often in response to an allergen, cold, air, exercise or emotional stress. Symptoms include wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and coughing. It is very frightening to both the sufferer and those who are with them. It cannot be left alone and it must be dealt with. Traditional medicine should be used to ease the symptoms but complementary medicine can be done alongside this to look at the cause.
Loveursoul’s perspective
Lucy suffered from asthma as a child. Her teacher at primary school used to place her at the back of the class in the winter as he said he did not want to catch her germs. She struggled to breath and was often suffering from colds. It turned out she was allergic to hay and straw from her pony but she used inhalers most of her childhood and into her adult life. She would often have panic attacks and struggle to breath. Socialising as a young adult become very stressful and smoky environments became impossible – she now does not need an inhaler.
Lucy’s daughter was diagnosed with asthma at six months – having already spent 2 months watching her daughter struggle to breath at night. Her daughter was then put on a nebuliser ever day twice a day and the often spent the night watching their daughter just to make sure she was breathing. At 2 the doctors said she would need to have her tonsils and adenoids out and that’s when she turned to complementary therapy. The rest as they say is history and neither she nor her daughter needs to use inhalers.
