Bowen Technique
Bowen is a an extremely gentle hands on holistic muscle release therapy used in humans and animals. It was pioneered by Thomas Ambrose Bowen born in 1916 in Australia.
The technique appears to activate the body’s own healing abilities, releasing muscle spasms and realigning skeletal imbalances as well as increasing lymphatic drainage and blood supply to the affected areas to enhance healing. The practitioner uses her hands on parts of the body such as muscle and other soft tissue using gentle rolling movements, disturbing the underlying energy structure of the area with a view to activating communication between nerve endings and the brain which in turn will initiate a natural healing response. This aims to restore natural pain free movement. The treatment sessions are about an hour and can be given through light clothing.
