Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is therapy suggested to the subconscious mind (where all emotions, memories and thoughts are stored) during a relaxing state of hypnosis, in order to alter destructive states of mind – habits, phobias, anxiety, panic attacks eating disorders and lack of confidence, to name a few.
Hypnotherapists use a number of different techniques including giving positive suggestions to help change behaviour, but the patient remains in control throughout.
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) 2008 guidelines recommended hypnotherapy as one option for long-term irritable bowel syndrome sufferers.
